The HDPE PP rigid material recycling washing line is specifically designed for processing rigid plastics such as high-density polyethylene (HDPE, such as milk bottles, shampoo bottles, and cosmetic bottles) and polypropylene (PP, such as microwave oven containers and yogurt cups).
Because HDPE and PP have similar physical properties (such as melting point and hardness) and are both common packaging materials, they are often processed on the same plastic recycling line. Through a precise process, waste HDPE/PP rigid material is transformed into high-quality, reusable plastic raw materials. The HDPE rigid material recycling line includes multiple stages such as pretreatment, crushing, cold washing, hot washing, drying, and granulation to improve the quality and value of the recycled materials.
The rigid material recycling washing line is used to recycle HDPE bottles, sheets, and extruded, injection-molded, or blow-molded HDPE/PP plastics.

Purui Machinery can design the plastic recycling machine layout into “L” or “U” shape according to buyer’s requirements.
Unpacking and Screening → Whole Bottle Sorting → Shredding and Pre-Rinsing → Crushing and Cold Washing → Hot Washing → Rinsing → Drying and Air Separation → Sorting and Bagging

Unpacking and Screening
The packaged raw materials are transported to the unpacking machine via a chain conveyor and then screened by a drum screener to remove detached bottle caps, mud, sand and other impurities.

Whole Bottle Sorting
The raw materials after disassembly and screening are transported to the bottle sorting machine to separate HDPE from the raw materials and enter the main line for further processing. PP, PS, and PET are removed as tailings and then transported to the hydraulic baler for packaging.

Shredding and Cold Washing
The sorted HDPE raw materials are shredded in a shredder and then pre-washed in a rinsing tank and a friction washer to remove some of the submerged labels, mud, sand and other impurities from the raw materials.

Crushing and Cold Washing
After pre-washing, the raw materials are crushed to the required size by a crusher, and then enter a rinsing tank and a dewatering machine for rinsing, dehydration and drying (moisture content ≤2%) to further remove some of the sediment, mud and other impurities in the raw materials. Then, they are temporarily stored in a buffer silo.

Hot Washing
After cold washing, the raw materials are immersed in a closed-loop cleaning tank with 90℃ hot alkaline water for 20-30 minutes. Then, the raw materials and water are fed into a buffer screw. The water carried out by the hot washing enters the buffer screw and then passes through an online solid-liquid separation microfilter to remove the debris generated by the crusher and the adhesive generated by the hot washing. The water is then transferred back to the alkaline neutralization tank, and the concentration of the alkaline solution is detected by a concentration detector. If the concentration is low, the alkaline solution is replenished and circulated back to the hot washing tank. The raw materials after hot washing enter the dewatering machine through the buffer screw for dehydration and drying, removing the adhesive and debris from the surface of the raw materials while blocking the alkaline solution.

Rinsing
After hot washing, the raw materials enter a hot rinsing tank for hot rinsing, then enter a friction washing machine for friction washing, and then enter a rinsing tank and a dewatering machine for rinsing and dewatering (moisture content ≤2%) to remove residual alkaline solution from the surface of the raw materials.

Drying and Air Separation
After dehydration, the raw materials enter the pipeline drying system for hot air drying to remove moisture. They are then blown to a buffer silo for temporary storage, then conveyed to an air separator to remove residual labels, and finally conveyed to a vibrating screen to remove debris.

Sorting and Bagging
The raw materials are fed to a color sorter to remove colored materials, then to a material sorter to remove different materials, and finally pneumatically conveyed to a dual-station packaging station for packaging.

Q: What materials can be processed on an HDPE rigid washing line?
A: Designed for “rigid” plastics including milk bottles, shampoo bottles, HDPE drums, blue crates, and HDPE pipe scraps.
Q: What is the difference between HDPE washing line and PET washing line?
A: HDPE/PP floats in water, while PET sinks. Therefore, the separation tanks are designed differently. Additionally, HDPE usually requires lower-temperature washing compared to PET to avoid warping the flakes.
Q: Why is “Rigid” material treated differently than “Film”?
A: Rigid materials require higher-torque shredders and granulators to break down thick walls. Films require “squeeze dryers,” whereas rigid materials use centrifugal dehydrators.
Q: How much water does a washing line consume?
A: Without a filtration system, water consumption is high. However, plastic washing lines use a Closed-Loop Water Treatment System that can recycle up to 90% of the process water.
Q: Why is a “Bale Breaker” necessary?
A: Post-consumer waste usually arrives in highly compressed bales. A bale breaker opens these to allow for uniform feeding and effective metal detection/sorting.
Q. What machines do you offer?
A: We mainly produce waste plastic recycling line, waste plastic granulator machine and other auxiliary machine.
Q. How can we visit your company and machines?
A: Yes, our factory is located in Rugao City, Jiangsu Province, China. Please contact our sales specialists if you would like a tour.
Q. What is the lead time for an order?
A: The lead time depends on the complexity of the order. Standard individual machines might have a shorter lead time, while a complete, custom recycling line could take. The specific timeline is usually outlined in the contract.
Q. Do you provide after-sales service and technical support?
A: Yes, we offer after-sales support, including remote guidance, and can arrange for engineers to assist with on-site installation, commissioning, and staff training for larger projects.
